In a new interview with The Joel Martin Mastery Podcast, UGLY KID JOE guitarist Dave Fortman spoke about the band's recently completed follow-up to the "Rad Wings Of Destiny" album.
According to Fortman, the new LP is expected to feature around 10-12 tracks and will be released in two chunks.
However, he admitted that he isn't quite sure on the details of the release plan.
Regarding the making of the new album, Fortman described how him and his UGLY KID JOE bandmates approached it differently this time around.
He stated that they went through a process where they worked with each other to create music that was truly exceptional.
Fortman praised the songwriting skills of vocalist Whitfield Crane, saying he had never seen anyone produce such quality material as Crane did on the new album.
The guitarist also elaborated on how the new UGLY KID JOE album compares to their previous efforts.
He described it as "the best shit we've ever done" and stated that it features more production elements than any other UKJ record.
Fortman revealed that he went back and remixed the entire album after getting sober, adding pads and width to the mix.
In terms of the musical direction of the new UGLY KID JOE album, Fortman explained that it's a return to metal roots, with songs written without palm mutes and featuring a heavier rock/metal sound.
The guitarist also reminisced about their previous work on "Rad Wings Of Destiny", where he brought up the idea of writing more guitar-driven music.
The interview came on the heels of UGLY KID JOE completing its first U.S.
tour in 27 years earlier this spring, with shows scheduled throughout Europe and other parts of the world.
