Legendary guitarist Ross Friedman, best known as Ross 'The Boss,' has died at the age of 72 after battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

He was a founding member of both heavy metal bands Manowar and The Dictators.

Friedman's passing was confirmed in statements shared by the Metal Hall of Fame and his official channels.

"It is with deep sadness that we confirm the passing of legendary guitarist, our dear friend, and Metal Hall Of Fame inductee Ross 'The Boss' Friedman," said a statement from the Metal Hall of Fame.

He will be remembered for his powerful playing and unmistakable tone, which helped shape generations of musicians and fans around the world.
