The unexpected return of Neurosis this year has come as a welcome surprise for fans of heavy music.

The band had previously reached an abrupt end in 2019 following controversy surrounding former singer/guitarist Scott Kelly's admission of abuse towards his wife and children.

However, the silence ended March 20 when Neurosis re-emerged without warning, releasing a brand new studio album titled An Undying Love For A Burning World.

The album features Aaron Turner on vocals, who is known for his work with SUMAC, Old Man Gloom, and Isis.

In an interview with Bandcamp, guitarist/vocalist Steve Von Till and Turner opened up about the band's reinvention and how the lineup shift came together.

According to Von Till, "We were thinking about how we could reinvent ourselves with the same energy that we reinvented ourselves with when I first joined." However, there was initial hesitation about inviting Turner due to his perceived busyness with other projects.

Turner described his reaction as both natural and surreal, given his long-standing ties to the band through various collaborations and tours together.

The band didn't simply look for a replacement, but rather sought someone who could bring new ideas and energy to their collective approach.

As Von Till explained, "We wanted somebody to come up with new ideas and a fresh approach–to make not only the old stuff their own, but to bring new stuff." The album's release marks a significant chapter in Neurosis' history, and fans are eager to see how this new lineup will shape the band's sound moving forward.
