Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal has unveiled the official music video for his song "The Thread".
The track is taken from his latest instrumental album, "Bumblefoot ...Returns!", which dropped in January 2025.
This release marks a significant milestone for Thal as it arrives 30 years after his debut solo instrumental album.
"Bumblefoot ...Returns!" showcases Thal's innovative guitar techniques and spans genres from metal to orchestral to blues.
The album features collaborations with iconic musicians, including Brian May, Steve Vai, Guthrie Govan, Derek Sherinian, Jerry Gaskill, and others.
In an interview with Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF radio station, Thal shared insights into the creation of his latest work.
He revealed how he got each guest musician involved in the project, explaining that Brian May was a longtime pen pal and friend, while Steve Vai was asked directly for their contributions.
The guitarist emphasized the importance of collaboration and mutual respect among artists.
Thal reflected on his time spent working with GUNS N' ROSES and revealed how he was focusing on his solo career after leaving the band in 2014.
Despite not officially announcing his departure, Thal has since dedicated himself to various projects, including SONS OF APOLLO, which released its second studio album "MMXX" in January 2020 via InsideOut Music/Sony.
Thal also expressed admiration for Brian May as both a musician and person, praising him as 'such a sweet wonderful guy' who possesses intelligence and kindness.
The track listing for "Bumblefoot ...Returns!" includes songs like "Simon In Space", "Planetary Lockdown", and the titular song "The Thread".
