Norwegian progressive trailblazers ENSLAVED have collaborated with the Bergen-based Storm Weather Shanty Choir to release two unique sea shanties.
The recordings, titled ""Fire Marengo"" and ""Anna Lovinda"", were made in November 2025 during the choir's 20th anniversary concert in Bergen.
ENSLAVED explained that their connection to the ship Statsraad Lehmkuhl began in 2014 when they composed and performed a commissioned piece on its deck.
Since then, a friendship has grown between the band and Haakon Vatle, director of the ship's foundation.
The collaboration with Storm Weather Shanty Choir felt like recognition rather than fusion, two expressions of the same coastal inheritance meeting at the center.
""The sea remembers.
And so do we."" The sea shanties are a continuation of ENSLAVED's original and dependable sound, with Ivar Bjørnson on guitars, Grutle Kjellson on vocals, Arve "Ice Dale" Isdal on guitar, Håkon Vinje on keyboards, and Iver Sandøy on drums.
