In an interview with Jesse Thorn on his NPR show Bullseye, HEART singer Ann Wilson spoke candidly about her 2024 cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment.

After sharing the news of her diagnosis on Instagram, Wilson underwent surgery to remove a growth that was later found to be cancerous.

Her doctors advised her to undergo preventative chemotherapy and take a break from performing.

Wilson revealed that she had worried about losing her physical abilities as a singer, but maintained an optimistic outlook throughout her treatment.

She noted that many people who receive a cancer diagnosis often experience deep despair, but acknowledged the difficulty of recovery from both cancer itself and its treatments.

Following surgery and chemotherapy, Wilson returned to the stage in 2025.

In September 2024, she announced on Instagram that her chemotherapy treatments were complete, and she was ready to tour again in the new year.

She emphasized the challenges posed by chemo, calling it "no joke." A documentary about Wilson's life and career, titled In My Voice, premiered in May on a limited release basis in Seattle, Wilson's hometown.

The film explores her 75-year journey as an artist, from her nomadic childhood to becoming one of the world's greatest rock stars.

The documentary features never-before-seen footage and commentary from family members, bandmates, fellow artists, and industry figures who witnessed her remarkable path.

It is directed by Barbara Hall, a Prime-Time Emmy-nominated producer known for her work on immersive music documentaries.
